David Stanley was born in Newport News, Virginia, in 1955. Three years later, his parents divorced, setting the stage for an extraordinary event. 1960, Dee Stanley married Vernon Presley, Elvis Presley’s widowed father. David was just four years old, 20 years younger than his new stepbrother, when he moved into the Graceland Mansion in Memphis, TN.
On August 16, 1977, David was among the first to discover his beloved stepbrother dead from a prescription drug overdose in his Graceland Mansion in Memphis, TN. Deeply affected by this tragic loss, David set his life on a new course. He overcame his addiction to drugs and developed new priorities centered on educating, motivating, inspiring, and helping others.​ Today, David Stanley is a powerful speaker, best-selling author, and successful filmmaker who effectively uses the story of his life, Elvis and beyond, to remind the world that prescription drug abuse has no boundaries.
